New unofficial Tekken forums

Hi all,

I was a little ticked off that Tekken official website – tekken.com – did not have any forums, so I have set up a fansite unofficial forum myself.

Hopefully if you’re interested in tekken and their upcoming games, events, competitions and much more, you’ll make a few comments there.

Here is a link to the unofficial Tekken forum.

An “awesome” feature of Steam UI News Page
6 October , 2010

I wouldn’t normally blog about such a thing but I was a little pissed off at the simple yet ridicously stupid comment left by a Valve member on Steam forums.

I found an issue with the Steam user interface on the News Page and decided to report it with a friendly suggestion:

Javascript problem on the Steams UI News Page.

When you scroll to the bottom, it uses Ajax to call the latest news articles, appends them to the bottom of the table and extends the scrollbar. Unfortunately because of this, when you want to use the menu items at the bottom of the page, you can never do so, because the page consistently appends old news on to the bottom. It reminds me of a Mac, try to select something at the bottom and the dock comes up, you can never get to it. lol.

Can we not have some archive feature instead of this? Ajax is great but it introduces some problems I once made this schoolboy error, lovely to see many others make it too… phew.

You could have a button on the News page at the bottom that calls the “LoadMoreNews()” function within the news.js instead? Should do the trick? Perhaps put a counter on there like “show next 10 news articles”, but it’ll have to be dynamic; if the user comes to the last set of news articles, it’ll need to say for example “show next 3 articles”. No doubt you got some object methods/paramaters lurking around with that info.

All the best and good luck!

Ok, so that’s fair enough right? I awaited a response and this is what I got:

It’s intended how it is now. The footer is only included so that news pages that filter to only a few stories don’t end abruptly. If you are viewing all news then you will indeed be scrolling for a long time before reaching it, but it’s not a primary navigation element and is considered less useful than seeing more news.

Well, great feature jmccaskey, I’m really happy to see that Valve’s team are well rehearsed in defending their coding… Boo.

Anyway, just a rant of the day kind of thing. Hope they fix it.

Support me by posting in the Steam Forum here.

The Hobbit set was burnt down in New Zealand

A little birdie told me that the New Zealand Hobbit set for Peter Jackson’s Prequel to the Lord of the Rings has been burnt down.

There seems to be a little uncertainty as to how the fire started but there is reason to believe that it may have been the Actors Union; Peter Jackon, New Line, Warner Bros and MGMs have had some conflict in the pay that actors get.

Don’t be too worried though, the production of the movie is still happening and filming will be started in 2011 (subject to further delays).

Here’s some source:

I’m pretty damn excited about The Hobbit being made into a movie, I was just recently talking to a friend about how I miss such movies. Yippee…

My girlfriend had obviously been searching around YouTube for a while and stumbled across this video… I watched it and absolutely pissed myself, I think you need to be a developer to actually laugh, but that’s another matter. It’s so spot on, some of the images in it like the lady biting the laptop, excellent… haha.

So here is the video:

Big ole thanks to the poster – Oferspiegel -  for making me laugh.

Hi all,

I just found out there will be a Tekken vs Street Fighter game. W00t!

As If I wasn’t already excited enough about The old Republic for PC,  Street Fighter and Tekken 6 for the PS3. This is going to be amazing…

I thought the best way to hype you all for this pretty gnarly news was to post a few links to some forums and vids that share the same enthusiasm as me for this revolution!

Inception the movie, 2010
22 July , 2010

Yesterday I went to the cinema to watch the new movie “Inception”. I was, to say the least, excited about its release after hearing the fantastic reviews on rottentomatoes.com - (86 %) and imdb.com – (9.3/10).

Usually I find that extreme hype tends to ruin movies, especially when you know what they are about. Knowing it was on the same lines as “The Matrix” or “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” was enough to be interested.

Inception The Movie - 2010

Unfortunately when I got to the cinema it was packed out and I got some shit seats at the front. What a fucking headache!

I’ll fast forward to the end of the movie.

Fantastic directing from Christopher Nolan as always and brilliant visuals (You have to see it to believe it). One of the scenes where there was no gravity was absolutely phenomenal, I noticed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was holding his breath but it really was some outstanding acting and in fact makeup and post-processing.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting was flipping brilliant. His latest selection of movies has really shed light on his talent as an actor. Ellen Page also did a cracking job of acting, she was extremely believable, in fact… Inspiring.

Tom Hardy’s character was suited and executed perfectly. He made an eye opening performance, I kid you not, it was extremely natural and as inspirational as Ellen Page’s performance.

The storyline was well constructed but am I surprised, Christopher Nolan has been faultless in most of his movies and he continues to push the boundaries of Filmography.
So to avoid being too criticcy and reviewy, I’ll stop here and say – Inception was a fantastic film and you simply have to see it!

James Trusler xx

Star Wars: The Old Republic E3 exclusive
16 June , 2010

After viewing the E3 2010 – 3 part demo of Star Wars: The Old Republic, I am entirely excited.

First thing to point out is that up until now, World of Warcraft seemed to be the only MMO worth playing. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Aion Online, Age of Conan, WAR, LOTRO and EVE but they didn’t have the same, dare I say it, WOW factor. So I think I speak for most MMO fans when I say that Star Wars TOR is next on the wish list.

Starwars - Jedi Knight

It seems like Bioware has been developing it for ages and I am hoping that it is obvious in the final product. After all, KOTOR was an undeniably great game and the storyline was as gripping as some of the best Star Wars tales out there.

So here’s to a promising new era of great MMO games.
