Deus Ex Human Revolution
4 March , 2011

With the upcoming release of Deus Ex – Human Revolution, I can’t help but think about the feasibility and ideology behind mechanic and nano augmentation. 2027 though? not sure.
The now
I thought I had best start with our current position in the world. What have we already achieved? I started with a few keyword rich searches in Bing (Ooo, not Google… how controversial). The former are not so interesting, yet they start the thinking process:
A few more search results return some more interesting break throughs:
- Prosthetic limbs
- Electronic eye (yes, that’s right, electronic eye!)
- Bio augmentations (mouse with ear on back)
Deus Ex – Human Revolution
Human Revolution – the prequel to Deus Ex has complex mechanical tools/weapons augmented into a human body. Deus Ex has nano augmentation (Just like a big computer packed into a laptop and a laptop packed into a mobile). All these augmentations have connections to each other because they are connected like us to an internet; a data highway if you will. Big Brother?
So why not?
If we already have chemical releasing implants, pacemakers to keep our own hearts continuing even though they are supposedly non-functional, electronic hands that can interface with our muscles and allow amputees to get their independance back and electronic eyes that make some blind people have some visibility again… why not?
Imagine in 10 years time, people are optionally having phones augmented into their body. Think about answering the call and the call inside your head picks up. Use mind control to talk to each other similar to using direct neural interfacing to control objects on a screen like this. Look at a random passer by on the street and, through the internet, face recognition or some identification calls a database and recieves information about that person. Imagine how easy policing would be?

Let’s think harder. Imagine people are forced to have an augmentation that stores up to date readings of alcohol and drug levels or illnesses people have. A database of everyones conditions, thoughts, movements that can be accessed with a search tool like Google. It doesn’t seem complex to me… and it’s a fucking scary thought. I for one wouldn’t let someone implant that kind of shit into me, so there will be politics. Politics will fail, so there will be fights. Fights lead to wars and terrorism. People will be searching for groups and others who have managed to not get implanted. The police, the army, the World are looking for you and your group…
Not so surprising then that Deus Ex – Human Revolution could be real within the next 100 years. I only wish I could be alive to see it happen.
Please leave comments, I’m revved up for some deep discussion.

Is Internet Explorer 9 any good?
21 February , 2011
Internet Explorer 9 is running as fast as Chrome and its Windows 7 integration is very nice. Now we just need a better developer tool and we’re set to go.
I have been using Firefox since god knows when and I’ve been chuffed with it all this time. Only recently have I been thinking of moving on. My reasons are acceptable – Adobe flash crashing constantly, Firefox in its entirety crashing, Performance of the browser was cry worthy… I tried Chrome… There is not enough options.
The latest windows update ushered me into downloading the new IE9 and as a developer, I was intrigued at how my sites would look in it; what new shitty devilry has Microsoft unleashed on their browser?
I am seriously surprised. It’s lightning fast and it’s beautiful!
I am, however, slightly disturbed by the Internet Explorer 9 developer toolbar… Firebug is just so god damn awesome, they’ll find it hard to crack this one on the head… but good start Microsoft, welldone. Give me a better developer toolbar and I will be as happy as… Larry!

Google Chrome RSS Feed not working?
7 October , 2010
Google Chrome RSS Feed not working? That’s right!
Try and click on my RSS Feed button at the top of the page using Google Chrome and all hell will break loose.
Reason: Google Chrome does not ship with an RSS Feed browser so you’ll have to go look for an extension.
Luckily I found one for you and it seems to work fine:

I am astonished at it not having an RSS browser by default, it seems like a pretty standard feature these days?
Crazy.

The Hobbit set was burnt down in New Zealand
4 October , 2010
A little birdie told me that the New Zealand Hobbit set for Peter Jackson’s Prequel to the Lord of the Rings has been burnt down.
There seems to be a little uncertainty as to how the fire started but there is reason to believe that it may have been the Actors Union; Peter Jackon, New Line, Warner Bros and MGMs have had some conflict in the pay that actors get.
Don’t be too worried though, the production of the movie is still happening and filming will be started in 2011 (subject to further delays).
Here’s some source:

I’m pretty damn excited about The Hobbit being made into a movie, I was just recently talking to a friend about how I miss such movies. Yippee…

Grandpa in my pocket childrens magazine
1 October , 2010
Amongst the stack of reading materials in Tesco, I managed to find an amusing collection of comics and children books. This one specifically made my belly explode with chuckle power.
They call it – “Grandpa in my pocket” – Notice the fact that it’s a “special magazine”.
I… I just can’t breathe… Oh please, help, stop me laughing. I just can’t help but think of the old man in Family Guy – ” ‘Sssscuse me Ssssssonnyy “.
I can’t believe they gave this children’s magazine such a sworded name.
Look at the positioning of that poor boy… He sure does look surprised to find that Grandpas “cap” is shrinking.

I got the Mazda 6 MPS… Oh my GOSH
11 September , 2010
I just drove back from the garage with my beautiful new Mazda 6 MPS. Oh boy oh boy was it fast!!! not only that, due to the turbo lag, you get a pretty smooth drive around town if needs be, and on the motorway you can gun it like a boy racer.
Amazingly fun, what a great piece of machinery!
Here is a picture of my new baby:

Who is the Stig? It’s Ben Collins
1 September , 2010
After the delayed release of the Stig’s autobiography, it has been made very aware that the Stig is in fact Ben Collins ex-Formula Three driver. I can’t believe it’s finally out.
Does this affect the Top Gear series at all? We all know who he is. It all seems to lose its humour…
Well I guess it’s the end of an era. I only hope that it all blows over for poor old Ben.
There’s a really good article about the whole “Who is the Stig?” thing at BBC News and wikipedia has been updated with the Stig news too.
Comments etc.

Mazda 6 MPS is a hard car to find
1 September , 2010
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my Mazda 6 TS Estate 2.0 but after taking a drive in the Vauxhall Astra VXR (with more poke than a snooker cue) I’m finding it hard to feel settled in it. So it’s time for a new car.
It’s hard to move away from Mazda once you’ve had a Mazda. The 6 series gives the most fantastic drive and even for an estate, the car is pretty fun. It’s got a bit of edge that I really admire. So I thought I’d stick with Mazda, at least this time round.
I’ve been reading up a lot about various different cars and judging how much money I had to spend on my latest fix and came to the conclusion that the Mazda 6 MPS was the best way to go.
I did a search on autotrader.co.uk and found about 8 Mazda 6 MPS on sale, 3 of which were worth looking at. After sending a few emails off, I managed to book a test drive in Ashford, Kent (about a 2 hour drive from where I live) for the following Saturday. Friday approached. I was on edge the whole evening just bursting at the seams with excitement, I knew I was going to be buying it. I Randomly went to check my emails only to find that the car had been sold and would be out of the garage on Saturday… Bugger.
Since that day, all of the Mazda 6 MPS of worth are gone. I’m struggling to pick one up in black and with a Mazda warranty attached.
So there you have it, Mazda 6 MPS is a bloody hard car to get your hands on but when I do possess its power, I will reign hell upon the earth.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

11 August , 2010
Hi all,
A little birdie told me that Mafia 2 was available for download on Steam.
“Vito has started to make a name for himself on the streets of Empire Bay, someone who can be trusted to get a job done. In this hot leaded playable demo, you and Joe get one of your first serious assignments, to deal with a chump that isn’t playing ball the way the Mob likes it.”
So go download the demo here and tell me what you think of it by posting a comment below!
It looks freaking awesome! I can’t wait…

Diablo 3 release date UK delayed
29 June , 2010
I remember the good old days of Diablo 2. Once I got the multiplayer working through Blizzard’s Battle.net, I remember spending hours upon hours defeating the powers of darkness with online friends and parties. I naturally chose Barbarian, double wielded double hard bastard with my Azurewrath Phase Blade. So I have to admit, I am extremely excited about the release of the new Diablo 3 PC game.

I remember the rumors of it being released 2009 October Halloween exciting me to the extent of writing faggy little emails to my friends asking what race they would be. Anyhow, Diablo 3 expected release date UK got delayed again and I say “bravo!”. If they spend as much time making it as I will spend playing it, it can’t be a bad thing. Blizzard, good on you for perfecting a game before it’s released. This will do you good. Just make sure the buzz is still going before it’s released!
Let’s hope that WOW updates finally cease to exist and they start working on new and exciting projects like StarCraft 2!
Can’t wait!

Star Wars: The Old Republic E3 exclusive
16 June , 2010
After viewing the E3 2010 – 3 part demo of Star Wars: The Old Republic, I am entirely excited.
First thing to point out is that up until now, World of Warcraft seemed to be the only MMO worth playing. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Aion Online, Age of Conan, WAR, LOTRO and EVE but they didn’t have the same, dare I say it, WOW factor. So I think I speak for most MMO fans when I say that Star Wars TOR is next on the wish list.

It seems like Bioware has been developing it for ages and I am hoping that it is obvious in the final product. After all, KOTOR was an undeniably great game and the storyline was as gripping as some of the best Star Wars tales out there.
So here’s to a promising new era of great MMO games.
